Lapis Flower Bolo Tie in Sterling Silver

The Lapis Flower Bolo Tie is a .925 sterling silver bolo with a hand-carved lapis lazuli centerpiece and a braided leather cord, made by hand in our workshop in Taxco, Guerrero, Mexico.

The centerpiece is carved — not set as a plain cabochon — into a blooming flower, so the deep blue of the lapis catches light differently across every petal. Lapis is never uniform: the gold flecks of pyrite and the pale veins of calcite make each stone its own.

It's a contemporary reading of a classic bolo. Wear it formally with a collar, or every day with an open shirt.

The sterling silver backing is our own: two integrated loops let the braided leather cord slide smoothly for adjustment while holding the centerpiece in place. Each mechanism is fabricated and finished by hand in our workshop.

Care

Silver is a living material and will develop a patina over time. Polish it with a silver cloth to bring back the shine. Lapis is a softer stone — keep it away from perfume and household cleaners, and store the piece dry.

Questions

Is the lapis natural? Yes, natural lapis lazuli, carved by hand. The gold flecks are pyrite and the pale veins are calcite — both are natural to the stone and part of how you tell real lapis from dyed substitutes.

How does the cord adjust? Two integrated loops on the silver backing let the braided leather cord slide freely, so you can set the length where you want it and it stays.

Can it be worn casually? That's how we wear it. It reads formal with a collared shirt and relaxed with an open one.
