Lengua Cruz Scarf Ring in Sterling Silver
The Lengua Cruz Scarf Ring is a sculptural .925 sterling silver slide formed by four tongues arranged in a cross, made by hand in our workshop in Taxco, Guerrero, Mexico.
It belongs to our Lengua Collection, inspired by the universal language of communication. Here the tongue motif — drawn from pre-Hispanic codices, where it stands for speech, knowledge and human connection — meets itself four times, rotated into a cross that frames an open center. Four voices facing four directions.
Our silversmiths build it using cartoneado, a technique Taxco has practiced for generations: sheets of .925 sterling are die-stamped, then soldered one by one into a hollow form. The result is dimensional and sculptural, yet light enough to sit on fabric all day.
A silver ring on the reverse holds the scarf, bandana or silk square in place while the front reads clean.

Care
Silver is a living material and will develop a patina over time. Polish it with a silver cloth to bring back the shine, or leave it darker — we like it both ways.
Questions
How is this different from the Lengua Scarf Ring? Shape. The Lengua Scarf Ring uses three tongues in a flowing form; the Cruz arranges four in a cross, so it reads more graphic and symmetrical on fabric.
Is the piece solid or hollow? Hollow. We build it with cartoneado, a traditional Taxco technique: sheets of .925 sterling silver are die-stamped and hand-soldered into a hollow form. The silver is .925 throughout.
