Lenguita Bracelet in Sterling Silver & Gold Vermeil
The Lenguita Bracelet in Sterling Silver & Gold Vermeil is a sculptural link bracelet that alternates .925 sterling silver and gold vermeil links, handmade in our workshop in Taxco, Guerrero, Mexico. It's the mixed-metal edition of our Lenguita — same form, new conversation between silver and gold.
It belongs to our Lengua Collection, inspired by the universal language of communication. The links reinterpret the tongue — a symbol found throughout pre-Hispanic codices, where it stands for speech, knowledge and human connection. We reduced it to its essential form, so that each element falls into a rhythm that wraps naturally around the wrist.
The alternating metals add a second layer to that rhythm. Silver and gold take turns the way voices do in a dialogue — one cool, one warm, each one sharpening the other.
Our silversmiths build it using cartoneado, a technique Taxco has practiced for generations: sheets of .925 sterling are die-stamped, then soldered one by one into a hollow form. The gold links begin the same way, then receive a thick layer of gold vermeil — real gold over sterling silver. It's what lets a piece this size stay light enough to wear all day while carrying the warmth of gold.

Polish the silver links with a silver cloth. For the gold vermeil links, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth — avoid silver polish or abrasive cleaners on the gold, as they can wear the layer over time. Take it off before swimming and store it dry.
Questions
What is gold vermeil? Gold vermeil is a thick layer of real gold bonded over .925 sterling silver. It's more durable than standard gold plating and sits on a precious-metal base, not brass or alloy.
Is the piece solid or hollow? Hollow. We build it with cartoneado, a traditional Taxco technique: sheets of .925 sterling silver are die-stamped and hand-soldered into a hollow form. The hollow construction is what keeps a piece this size light enough to actually wear.
What's the difference between this and the all-silver Lenguita? The gold. Same shape, same cartoneado construction, same weight — but half the links are finished in gold vermeil, so it reads warmer and more mixed-metal on the wrist.
How do I choose a size? Measure your wrist and add about half an inch so it moves comfortably.
Can you make it in a custom length? Usually yes. Everything we make is by hand and to order, so write to us before you order and we'll tell you.
