Guardian Ring in Sterling Silver & Fire Opal | Ready to Ship
The Guardian Ring is a .925 sterling silver ring set with a Mexican fire opal, made by hand in our workshop in Taxco, Guerrero, Mexico. This one is one of a kind, in size 11.
We built it from two of the lengua forms at the heart of our Lengua Collection — a shape drawn from ancient Mesoamerican ceremonial adornment. Doubled, the lenguas give the ring movement and depth, and they guard the stone at its center: a fire opal, the gem Mexico is known for, glowing in warm oranges and reds.
Like every piece in the Lengua Collection, the lenguas are hollow-formed using cartoneado, a technique Taxco has practiced for generations — sheets of .925 sterling are die-stamped, then soldered by hand into a hollow form. It gives the ring real volume without the weight.

Care
Silver is a living material and will develop a patina over time. Polish it with a silver cloth to bring back the shine, or leave it darker — we like it both ways. Opal is soft and holds water: keep it away from perfume, household cleaners and chlorine, take the ring off to wash your hands, and store it dry.
Questions
Is this ring one of a kind? Yes. Every fire opal is different, and this ring was made around this one. There is a single piece, in size 11.
Can it be resized? Write to us before ordering. Resizing a ring with a set opal is delicate work, so we'd rather look at it with you first than promise something we can't do well.
What is fire opal? An opal whose body glows in yellow, orange and red rather than milky white. Mexico is one of the world's great sources of it, and it's one of the few gems the world associates specifically with this country.
